First Aid Response (Occupational First Aid)

Course Overview

First Aid Response (FAR) is the new occupational first aid training standard in Ireland and is certified by PHECC (Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council).  It is a comprehensive three day course (18 hours) delivered through the use of powerpoint presentation, DVD, demonstration and practice.  The course is suitable for designated first aiders in the workplace or anyone who would like to gain the knowledge and skills required to help a person who is ill or injured.

Course Objectives

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Deal with life-threatening or potentially life-threatening conditions until the arrival of the emergency services

  • Provide help for minor injuries or conditions not thought to be life-threatening 

  • Provide first aid in a wide range of environments including the workplace, home and recreational settings

  • Provide first aid in a compassionate, confident and competent manner

Assessment

Participants are individually assessed on their practical skills and complete a theory exam (multiple choice questions)

Certification

Successful participants receive a PHECC First Aid Response Certificate which is valid for 2 years
