This 3 - 3.5 hour course is suitable for anyone new to the food handling sector and should be completed before they commence handling food. It is ideal training for those with no previous experience and who have light food handling duties. On completion of the course participants will understand their responsibilities under Irish food safety legislation and will be capable of working to best practice.
On completion of this course participants will:
Understand the importance of correct preparation, storage, handling and cooking of food
Be aware of the legal responsibilities of those working with food
Be familiar with the structural requirements of a food premises
Be able to recognise a pest infestation and how to control it
Be understand the importance of cleaning and cleaning schedules
Be able to understand and explain the purpose of HACCP principles

Successful participants receive a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate HACCP Level 1 which is valid for two years.
